Singer’s journey to Åland

In early summer 2025, Orphei Drängar is delighted to travel to Åland for a concert tour. On Sunday, June 15, 2025, we will perform in beautiful churches throughout the archipelago, but our Grand Départ consists of two concerts on Saturday at Alandica in Mariehamn.

Orphei Drängar is considered one of the world’s leading male choirs. By always striving for the highest possible quality, collaborating with the best soloists, conductors, and orchestras, and regularly commissioning new music, OD aims to lead the development of male choral singing in Sweden and worldwide. In addition to tours in Sweden and abroad, OD regularly performs concerts in its hometown of Uppsala. Recent collaborations include participation in Peter Gabriel’s latest album, released in 2023, and in January 2024, the choir was invited to perform Shostakovich’s Thirteenth Symphony, Babi Yar in Tokyo and Osaka.

The choir’s artistic director and conductor since 2008 is Cecilia Rydinger.
