Michael Nyqvist at Orphei Drängar’s Serenade concert
This year’s serenade concerts with Orphei Drängar, under the theme ”Joy and Rapture” with actor Michael Nyqvist as a guest, will take place on 1 June at 7pm and 9pm.
The concert will contain a broad spectrum of music by composers from Henry VIII to Lennon/McCartney. The varied musical programme will be interleaved with poems by Swedish and international authors. Cecilia Rydinger Alin will conduct the concert with Folke Alin at the piano.
Orphei Drängar continues the successful concept of combining male choir with the reading of poems in this year’s serenade concerts. The combination give a very special, electric atmosphere to the pre-summer evening.
The concert includes classics such as ”Ständchen” by Schubert as well as a completely new musical arrangement by Paula af Malmborg Ward, which will be performed for the first time. The breadth of the prgramme is further illustrated by the inclusion of traditional Swedish songs by Wilhelm Stenhammar and August Söderman contrasted with songs by the Lennon/McCartney.
“It has been fun and stimulating to work together with Michael Nyqvist to put together this year’s Serenade programme. I look forward to two joyful, thought provoking and moving concerts”, says Cecilia Rydinger Alin, OD’s conductor.
