Spring Concert 2025

University Main Building, Uppsala

Orphei Drängar (OD) is considered one of the world’s leading male choirs. By consistently striving for the highest possible quality, collaborating with the best soloists, conductors, and orchestras, and regularly commissioning new music, OD aims to lead the way in the development of male choral singing in Sweden and internationally. For OD’s Spring Concert 2025, we are delighted to welcome bass-baritone Erik Rosenius as a soloist, a rising star on the Swedish vocal scene.

Erik Rosenius was educated at the Royal College of Music and the University College of Opera in Stockholm, as well as the opera studio of the Berlin State Opera, where he performed numerous roles under the direction of conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Zubin Mehta. Rosenius has sung roles at the Göteborg Opera and has been affiliated with the Royal Swedish Opera in recent years. In the summer of 2023, he performed the role of Banco in the acclaimed production of Macbeth at Läckö Opera and sang Frank in Die Fledermaus at Vattnäs Concert Barn during the winter of 2023-24. Rosenius is also an experienced oratorio and art song performer.

At OD’s concert, Rosenius will perform together with the choir as well as in opera arias and art songs, all under the direction of OD’s associate conductor Folke Alin. As is tradition at the spring concert, the choir’s repertoire will range from romantic music to key 20th-century works, including a world premiere by Benjamin Staern. Additionally, a selection of spring songs will celebrate the arrival of the beautiful season ahead.

We look forward to offering you, our audience, an artistic experience filled with both familiar and new musical encounters, and we warmly welcome you to a richly varied spring concert!
